Well, I now have tried it, and again I congratulate you on this
discovery.

What the experiment reveals to me is that the software limit in
question applies generally to the Import() function within Google Docs
spreadsheets. The error message that occurs if the user tries to
build a bigger spreadsheet is:

"At this time, spreadsheets in Google Docs only support up to 50
ImportData functions in a single spreadsheet."

So this sofware limit really does not apply to geocoding per se, but
rather to a more general function within a single instance of the
spreadsheet app, and would apply even if something else were being
imported having nothing to do with geocoding.

Therefore, my original question and observations still apply. I do
wonder how this fits in with the Terms and Conditions of Google Maps.
I am posing the question, not giving an answer. To be useful to most
of us, a technique must be both feasible and legal.

(BTW, is "Bill Gates" supposed to be an insult or a compliment? I'll
just assume the latter.)
