If you just want a really fat polyline with its width determined in metres rather than pixels then its fairly simple to do this by changing a GPolyline's width as the map zoom changes.
In the past I have used a thin (fixed pixel width) centreline and transparent fat line to show a route + its permitted deviation zone from the same set of coordinates. The polyline rendering will give the fat line nice rounded ends when its width is a few hundred pixels.
