Thanks Ross. The error margin using Google Maps API is unacceptable. So I guess I will have to abandon Google Maps for my application and use Yahoo! maps instead. The Yahoo! HTTP API does return the precise coordinates that I am looking for. So, I guess that Google didn't cough up the proper money for the same level of license fee to the Royal Mail as Yahoo! did.
