setting the overflow style of the div to auto, automatically inserts a
scroll bar when necessary. e.g. <div id="directionsdiv"
style="overflow:auto;" ......>

see the example in http://www.lanerealty.com.au/Map.html - first
insert the town 'Eagle Heights' in the Town/Suburb field in the form
below the map, then try 'Cairns'. In the first case the directions
should fit into the div so no scroll bar. In the latter case, unless
you have a huge screen, you will get a scroll bar!
