I prefer it the way it is. Despite having a reasonably fast connection, having to load separate pages for cross-referencing would be a bit of a worry even if it is to another tab.
Single page and ^F is very handy as well as all the cross links to the anchors in the page. The page is about 340kB which is not too large for most web connections nowadays.
