You can use this simple exemple http://caxiasdigital.com.br/dengue/ to adapt your aplication. Is used a XML file to charge the date and a Javascript file to define your shape. The js file you can find in http://econym.org.uk/gmap/eshapes.htm (Mike´s tutorials). Inside this flie you define shape, colour, weight, opacity etc.
