That's how i manage to sort an array of sidebar entries whilst
retaining the index required to trigger a click on a marker.

I used a similar method on the map here:

http://searchwestnorfolk.org.uk/map/map.php?cat_id=2

If you zoom in or pan the map so some markers are removed (as they
leave the map viewport) and then zoom or pan back the sidebar list
remains alphabetically ordered.
