There is a couple of use cases imaginable, but not applicable, as seen.
Use case 1: Interactive map, which shows the currently covered area 
while entering digit by digit. A similar application, visualizing postal 
area code is shown at http://www.schubart.net/plz/ using points drawn by 
JAVA applet.
Use case 2: Some sort of a heat map, which visualizes other statistical 
data based upon areas subdivided by area codes.

I'm not really surprised or even disappointed about the fact, that GPoly 
isn't capable of handling such a mass of data. That was expected...
