>> Hi,
>> I would like to know why an entire island is missing off of google
>> maps and google earth! The island was present as of August 2008. I
>> know because i used printouts of the island's satellite images for
>> kayaking this summer. Currently, the island is only visible at about
>> 50% zoom with satellite images. You are still able to see the island
>> under the maps option only. If you zoom in further than 50%, the
>> island disappears, rendering any satellite imagery useless.
>>
>> Why is the island missing from the satellite image?
>>
>> How can I get the island back onto the satellite maps?
>>
>> How did an entire island get overlooked?
>>
>> Dutch Island can be found within Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island.
>> Dutch Island is not a small island that could be easily overlooked.
>> Dutch Island is just under a mile long, and is located about 1.5 miles
>> south of the Jamestown bridge, between Saunderstown, RI (on the
>> mainland) and the island of Jamestown. Google has the island location
>> titled as "Dutch Island State Management Area" and if you switch
>> between satellite and map view, you will see the island appear (map)
>> and disappear (satellite). The island is managed by the Rhode Island
>> State Department of Environmental Management, and is currently a
>> wildlife protection area.
>>
>> If this question is in the wrong location, I apologize. Please provide
>> me with a link or directions on how to locate the correct location.
>> Thank you for your assistance and patience,
