Andrew, We're rolling out a Catalog-on-Demand API that lets developers send content and easily produce custom PDF flyers, brochures, or catalogs. It was originally intended for product-related info, but we're finding a lot of interest in using it for other types of content. Publishing is free.
Along the lines of what LiquidDunn is asking about, it seems like it would make a lot of sense for a developer to send a map image (or multiple map images) as part of the content, along with other related notes about all kinds of things (e.g., restaurant reviews, points of interest, etc.). For example, if I was planning a road trip, wouldn't it be cool to have a nice brochure that included a micromap of each stop, along with comments and other info? And if a developer lets a user pick the content to appear in the PDF, then the PDF becomes itself sort of a mashup. Please take a look at our site (www.catalog-on-demand.com) and let me know what you think. If you think that there is some boundary that you would not want developers to cross, we'd be glad to post a caution about what is or is not ok. Thanks!
