Hey.

I have been on before about designing a map for a hospital. I have
now 99% completed it.

The link is currently at the following location to the map only,
without real site templates.

http://www.tymonrovers.com/attachments/Patrick/IMap/map.html

Here is a snippet of the XML.... (1 Department)

<markers>

<marker name="Abraham Colles" pic='<center><img src="http://
www.tymonrovers.com/attachments/Patrick/IMap/resize/con.jpg"
<br><a href="http://www.stjames.ie/internetnew/Departments/
WardsA-Z/A/AbrahamColles/" target="blank" ><center>View Ward
Information </a><center> ' lat="53.33868" lng="-6.29593"
category="colles" />

</markers>

So when you open the link, you may only have access to this
department, from my dropdown list. The department is called Colles
and is the first one from the drop down.

OK so here is my problems that I need help with. I hope you can help.

Bear in mind that I am using an overlay on top of my map, which
contains each building within the hospital.

1). When I zoom out of my map, the image becomes out of sync with the
rest of the map, but when at level 17 (highest zoom), the map is
perfectly aligned to all roads.

2). The map overall seems to load very slow. Sometimes it can be
about 40-50 seconds loading the map page. I seem to notice it is
faster with firefox but still, i would like it to load immediate or as
close as. I noticed on other sites with google maps, that this is
happening also to others. The image used in overlay is <- 200kb so it
seems to be delayed from google servers maybe? I see the egg timer
appear sometimes also while waiting and screen freezes while waiting
on map to load until it eventually loads.

3). When map loads, I always get the original google maps version of
the hospital and a few seconds later, my overlay map will kick in and
replace the google version. Is there a way, that when I load the map
page, that googles horrible orangey / pink colour version of the
hospital map, will not load for people to see.

4). When I click satellite view on my map, this loads as it should,
but my overlay is still there blocking the satellite view of the
hospital. Is there a way that when users click satellite, that my
image could dissapear and the satellite should load as per usual.

5) The last few days in IE only, both versions 6 and 7, I noticed
that I am getting an error message (yellow triangle bottom left)
saying GControl Undefined but when I do a refresh everything is fine.
Firefox is perfect. However, i do not want this happening at all.
Looks ridiculous. When I check the code, it always brings me the line
"If browser is compatible ()". I see on google that many people have
put this up as a problem, but i did not see solutions. It happens
when cache has been full and empty.

6). On the hospital site, there is a script to print the map only
(overlay image). The map does print, but it prints googles version of
the map and it does not print my overlay, which defeats the purpose of
been able to print the map.

Any help would be appreciated. I hope they are simple fixes.

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for the map, that would be
great.

Code needs a cleanup.

Map goes live next week with new website. I am hosting this on a
different server for now.

Thanks again.

Patrick.
