The quick fix for the markers issue is, as Andrew described, using the
API built-in functions to fetch and parse the XML.

However, I would expect other issues to arise, for example from having
the javascript inside a <table>.
I would have to look at your code in a lot more detail to determine
what needs to be changed, and there are probably other things, outside
the maps, which are also "IE only".
If you don't feel tht you have the skills to do it yourself, I would
suggest that you hire someone new to fix it, and to bring it up to
standards, as a broken site is the same as, (or worse than), no site
at all.
