Hi Neil- I realized that it's not convenient for most developers to stop by the board and monitor it for sticky posts on a regular basis. For this reason, I've created a announcement-only list for posting about releases and any major bugs/outages/deprecations.
I've actually been test-posting to it for the past few weeks, so you can see what the posts will be like: http://groups.google.com/group/google-maps-api-notify We'll add links to this from the documentation soon (just figuring out where, as we want to be careful not to confuse developers). Anyone here is welcome to subscribe to that list now.
