I've just uploaded some pictures to clarify.

http://google-maps-api.googlegroups.com/web/euklidian.png?hl=de&gsc=BwoMbwsAAAAVfB1CW_Bcnv4qm7loeCnQ
shows a handdrawn polygon (green) and a linebuffer (red) of 200,000 m
around the orange line in euklidian mode.
http://google-maps-api.googlegroups.com/web/geodesic%20(2).png?hl=de&gsc=ADTQEgsAAABeM-dcOy21c9DYKibuOzjD
shows, what happens when I click on the geodesic button. The green
polygon gets recalculated, so does the line, but the buffer simply
disappears.

http://google-maps-api.googlegroups.com/web/err_msg.png?gsc=Y4H6ngsAAADvQJh2YgbDNzxyoAN0Ez-i
shows the firebug warning I get (sorry, all in german once again).
