Hi,

I'm trying to understand sense and meaning of the zoom level strings for
encoded polylines. For this I used this official utility
http://code.google.com/intl/en/apis/maps/documentation/polylineutility.html

but I have difficulities to understand the results shown.

This source:
http://code.google.com/intl/en/apis/maps/documentation/polylinealgorithm.html
states
"An encoded level value of 3 in this case would ensure that a point
appears in all zoom level, while a level of 0 will ignore points
specified beyond zoom level 5."

I used the utility above to specify 3 points: The first near SF at level
3. Second near LV with level 0 and last near LA with level 3. And I
expected to see a line from SF via LV to LA, probably with
appearing/disappearing parts, depending on zoom. But I got a straight
line between SF and LA, remaining unchanged, regardless of what zoom
level the map was using. With level 3 for all points the line was drawn
correctly.

I can confirm the statement above: 3 shows all, but my "0" point wasn't
connected at all. Is anybody able to explain the impact of zoom level
strings to the appearance of the polyline?

I hope, this question is at least API related, so if somebody want's to
comment: Wrong group... please don't.

Regards
