Yes, I am aware that I can't use the maps code directly and all I have
available is the API. But, I have seen a lot of examples using the api
with search results on the left and the flags marking the locations on
the map.

Basically this is what I am looking at doing. This is for sales people
so if someone is visiting dentists they can search for dentists and
see the results on a map but, I have more dentists or offices of
interest in the same area I want to augment the list with this other
information. Also, the standard maps info box that comes up when the
flag is clicked on has a lot of useful information I would like to
include with our information in a info window without duplicating it
in our database.

All I am looking for is suggestions on how to do this, if it is
possible and suggestions on alternatives if it is not. I have a hard
time thinking that google wouldn't provide a way for people to perform
a search and allow them some control over the data once it is
returned.

Thanks
