This is one of the most qualified and disciplined boards I've ever followed, but I'm neither a real map specialist nor having to do too much with Maps except in my spare time. I'm following just to not miss something. The specialty of this board, that requesters have to provide a link to their work, makes it's rather easy to see, what's on vogue with Google Maps currently (Think about the Swineflue Tracker :)) So first of all the Google Maps API team should be glad to have this pool, because most of the problems and new "appearances" are reported and investigated here first and fast. Although it's sometimes annoying to realize to be - once again - just the second or third, who would have known the answer :), there is no real need to stop the top ten profs from giving answers as fast as they can or to discourage them to do so. Because mostly they can and they do and they are of help. I think the risk of abusing the board as chat isn't really there (and if it would be, who cares?), because most of the "very urgent" posts are answered with some special comments (I'm sometimes baffled by the patience of Larry, Rossko and others, who again and again point to the posting guidelines). The sanity of this board is very, very high and I can't remember to have seen to much "bumps" or impertinent or aggressive questions.
So my suggestion is: Let it roll as it is and spend some beers to the top posters.
