I appreciate you checking this issue out - I have noticed the same
thing while testing under Google Chrome & Firefox 3.  In fact, Google
Chrome, Firefox 3, Safari 4 Public Beta (for Windows), and Opera 9.62
all show only a small difference between the two APIs.  Unfortunately
I am developing under a requirement to support IE - and the difference
in the APIs gets quite ugly as you draw more layers on the new API
using IE7 or IE6; however the older APIs function in an acceptable
way.
