Hello,

I'm using Google Maps in a Mashup on Google App Engine. What I do is
getting user-entered City and Country on a cron basis from another Web
2.0 platform, geocode them, save to cache and use Google Maps to
display the cached User on a world map.

For geocoding I use
http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?key=%s&q=%s&output=json&oe=utf8

Now I'm getting 620 Errors fairly regular. About 70 % of my requests
get rejected with 620 error code but the other 30 % work fine.

I have about 1000 geocode requests a day. It's something like 2
requests every 3 minutes (with 5 second between the actual requests
within one cronjob). So I think I'm not hitting quota limits at all. I
also don't think that this legally contradicts with any TOS, since I'm
only doing the caching to good use with Google Maps.

I also paused the cronjob for two days, to see if it might be a quota
based on day, but the 620 behaviour remained.

As mentioned I'm using Google App Engine. My suggestion is, that there
is more people on Appengine querying the geocode api and we may share
the same quota, even though we don't know about each other.

So is anyonw having an idea? Or whats the best way to contact the Maps
or Appengine team about this issue other than the mailing lists?

johan from berlin
