Two ways I can think of: (a) try to get directions from a point in the country -- to itself may well suffice. If there's an error, directions aren't available. (b) use the spreadsheet at http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p9pdwsai2hDMsLkXsoM05KQ together with the spreadsheet API, about which I know nothing!
