Hi Everyone, We've received an error code 620 on our sites two days this week. These sites have been live for months now:
http://www.shopbrazos.com http://www.lowcountrymarketplace.com And it's only began to happen this week. We use the geocoding service on our back end so our sales people can enter in stuff like garage sales and new businesses. We also use it on a our crime map on one of our newspaper websites: http://www.theeagle.com/police/. We've been scratching our brains over this for days because, even on on a busy day, across all of our sites, we enter no more than 500 geocoding requests with an average closer to 100. We've checked all of our code and nothing appears to be wrong with it, it doesn't seem like it enters some sort of infinite loop or anything. We do have a few of theories though, 1) We're on Mosso's (http://www.mosso.com) cluster service, could other people on our cluster be geocoding excessively and it's blocking us somehow? 2) Google's terms of service states that geocoding from them must be used on map. We handle or geocoding service in a backend so our sales people can do it. That portion is not available to the public, but the maps themselves are on the sites I've listed above. Could Google's API see that the geocoding is in a backend not available to the public and block us? Is that a possible reason for a status 620? 3) We have a couple of disgruntled employees that have been messing with us in annoying but ultimately harmless ways. Could they someone how spoof our server's IP and geocode from that to the point it gets us blocked. (I doubt this is it, but it is a theory.)
