KML doesn't have options for specifying shadows, so GGeoXml tries to do 
the best it can. It knows that MSIE can't print PNG files, so it has to 
substitute something, but I'm not sure where it's getting those shadow 
gifs. Note that GGeoXml doesn't think that those images are shadows, it 
thinks that they're the GIF equivalent of the PNG files that you're 
using for your markers.

The problem only occurs in MSIE.

I believe that Lance's GeoXml supports KMZ files and allows you to 
specify a {baseicon} option which you can use to override the defaults.
You'd need to set the .printImage of your baseicon to a GIF equivalent 
of your PNG image.
