Using two maps and two sets of directions should be fine if you keep
all your variables separate for the two instances.

If you take out the "overflow:auto" you should find that the table
expands as necessary. You will probably want to make sure that
vertical-align is set to top, though, or the each cell will have its
content centered vertically.
