The 180 was produced with trail and error. It doesn't affect the speed 
of the marker, it controls how often the map pans.

Moving the map too often looks ugly. Moving the map insufficiently often 
allows the marker to escape the visible region of the map.

The speed of the marker is derived from the "stepspeed" variable which 
contains the speed of the vehicle in mph. In that example I use

    step = stepspeed/2.5;

Where, once again, the 2.5 is produced with trial and error to produce 
something that looks reasonable.
