Ross, that link (the entire string, not what the web interface does with it) works fine if it's pasted into the address bar. d_bubble_icon_text_small isn't described with the others at http://groups.google.com/group/google-chart-api/web/chart-types-for-map-pins so I've no idea what "bb" is, but the parameters appear to be icon|?| text|fillcolour|bordercolour It does appear that Xabi is right. Once a 400 response has been received, subsequent requests work. That does mean that random text is not the best thing to do, although it's a good demonstrator. If I stop the page script and submit the URL separately (to get a 400 response) then the image appears successfully in the page.
