LOL =). I will try not to leave an opening to postulate on a question
like, "worth my trouble".

Yes, I have touched on some marker management articles. However, I am
not there yet since I don't have 100s of markers to manage yet. This
question focuses on user interaction with the map and data retrieval.
I feel like I am missing some fundamentals with gmaps.

In my sleepy state last night, I may not have captured the essence of
the approach.
1) Only data is retrieved for the viewable map. There is no extra data
sent and the communication is lean, but can be chatty.
2) Data is retrieved for a much bigger "proximity" with the viewable
area only representing a subset of the dataset retrieved. The
communication is wasteful but is less chatty.

Is there an overall consensus in the community, when starting out a
project, for which approach is better? I am not seeing the challenges
further down the road that may warrant switching to one approach over
the other. However, my analysis is making me hesitate in committing to
the direction I am going, which is to research how to handle zoom/
scaling and pan. I am sure there is one dominant approach over the
other. Or approaches I am not considering since I am a noob.
