I want you to think about your question from the stand point of a
computer program. The coordinate system is an excellent method of
locating a point on a surface. Addresses are at best inexact and can
be extremely difficult to pinpoint. Many streets have duplicate names
inside the same city, so they are not suitable for the task of
absolutely defining a point.

Addresses can be converted into coordinates by the process of
geocoding, however, this process is also inexact. I suggest Googling
the topic for more information on how to use the process.
