I think everything is working as expected so here's a new sample map:
http://tinyurl.com/nuseox
I sent this to PierreB but I managed to send the old link. Too many
versions too fast!
I've added a map type "US+CA Topo", which will layer the two map type
tiles onto the map. First the USGS tiles (type "Topo") which extend
into Canada, and then the new Canadian tiles (type "CanVec") on top of
that. Since the Canadian data stops at the border, what you see is
the USGS map on the US side of the border, and the Canadian map on the
Canadian side.
When the map comes up, it should be in "Topo" map type (all USGS
tiles). Use the map type selector in the upper right of the map to
see the same locale under the different types. You can look at just
the USGS or just the CanVec or both together. The new one, "US+CA
Topo" is pretty cool if I do say so. You can zoom it out. zoom = 11
("2 mi/5km on the scale") is the last supported by CanVec. After
that, you just get USGS tiles. At the lower zooms (13, 12, & 11) you
can see the tiles get displayed, first the USGS, then the CavVec on
top. It would be nice if it were all instantaneous, but since the
servers are traditionally overburdened, you can watch the process in
action.
There are a few "holes" in the CanVec map where the USGS map "peeks"
through. I'll talk to the NR Canada folks and maybe we'll get a fix
for that.
For those interested, the script that defines the map types is here:
