Thanks for mentioning PolyGonzo, Barry. It does look like a tile layer overlay is a better bet here. I'd use PolyGonzo if the data were updated frequently, but if it isn't, the tile layer performs better.
Also, PolyGonzo doesn't support polylines, only polygons.
