This is where we came in ... You just can't get it from Google. You'll have to write your own routing service - this is not a trivial job, and of course you'd need a world- or country-wide road database of your own. There may be other non-Google services that offer multiple routes, but I don't know of any. If you can think of your own way of working out any waypoint on your possible alternate route, it is possible to do repeated single GDirections calls using different waypoints. I can't imagine any generalised way to do that.
