Yup.  You're using KML.
No amount of fiddling with icon settings in javascript will change the
icons placed by GGeoXml.
It's controlled by <style> tags within the KML, with the limitation
that GGeoXml only places 32x32 icons

If you want more flexibility with KML icons, consider using a
different parser - EGeoXml or GeoXml
