In the last four weeks or so the geocoder stopped returning State
level records for places in the US. Should I assume these are not
coming back?

I used these records so that I could take a location like "MI" or "IL"
and turn it into "Michigan" or "Illinois".

In general it would be nice if the geocoder could return the full name
of the Administrative Area and store it in some field, rather than the
user having to resort to reading all the individual records and trying
to guess the state name (which now, apparently, they can't do either).
