Why? Because I think extensive geocoding/reverse geocoding capabilities should be part of a complete mapping API service. And I would rather use Google because it simplifies my application, and Google's service is much more reliable than geonames and generally more extensive than other mapping solutions.
On the other hand don't get me wrong. It's great that Google provides this service. But that doesn't mean I can't hope that it could be even better.
