You don't suppose that if EE has trouble with curly braces around if blocks, it might have trouble elsewhere? That sounds pretty optimistic of you. :)
You said you've used the aforementioned javascript in the past without trouble. Were you using it in conjunction with EE, just so? If not, then what has changed?
