Thank you very much for your reply.
It appears I got confused with the 2 editions of Terms of service :-)
(http://code.google.com/apis/maps/terms.html  vs
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/iphone/terms.html ).
They both use almost the same title name and referred in the document
as the "Maps API" .
