You can reduce that by a factor of four if you assume that the return journey is the same time and distance as the outward journey (which will almost always be pretty close to the truth) and capture the time and distance from the same query. You can then reduce your number of GDirections queries by chaining up to 25 routes together using .loadFromWaypoints(), and then using .getRoute() to read the time and distance for the individual route segments in the reply. You end up with about 200 GDirections requests. However, it's all going to look a mess when you plot them all on your map.
