Because each path is separate and not treated as a polygon, they can't
behave as a single array of encoded polygons in order to produce

However, it would appear to me that adding support for polygons would
be trivial. It's slightly less trivial to get encoded polygons to
produce holes, but it should still be possible. It's worth creating an
enhancement request for, if it's going to be useful to you.
