Your HTML structure is invalid - content outside of head or body tags. Why not use the cross-browser GXmlHttp facility provided in the API? Loading 'only' 70 KML files is bound to be a bit fraught, generating lots of unnecessary traffic. Can you not combine them? Or can you get the data in simpler XML or JSON form and parse at the client, reducing traffic?
