Yes, well, Google have adopted that handicap themselves, as they
formally state in the docs that the limit for a static map URL is 2048
characters.
It is annoying though, that no matter what browser we use, we are
limited by Microsoft thinking. I think Google should go by the HTTP
protocol, (no limit), so that perhaps more people would start using a
real browser. :-)
