Hello Larry and thanks for responding. Yes, the geocodezip link you provided takes me to the correct coordinates. The plugin I'm talking about is a Joomla Google Maps plugin. I've changed the coordinates in that plugin to be the lat/ long suggested but still no change.
I wonder if this is a plugin issue now rather than a Google Maps API problem. Thanks for the review and advice.
