What goes on between releasing a new version and things
actually changing? What sort of time delays are involved?

Background, a couple of hours ago (evening 22nd March
in the UK, presumably late afernoon in the US) Google Maps in
our web site broke in IE. Suddenly, at least in IE 7 and 8,
the map tiles were not filling the portal: we were getting
grey background where bits of map ought to have been.

Everything had been fine at around 6 o'clock (UK time) but was
bad at 10 o'clock. Our code did not change at all.

We'll investigate exactly what happened and try to submit a
bug report in due course.

We were using "Version 2" of the API, invoked by passing "v=2"
(not "v=2.s" --- is that new?).

But when I look at the list of versions that appears at

http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/wiki/JavascriptMapsAPIChangelog

I can't see anything shown has having changed since March 16th --- 6
days ago.

So what happened? Why did our site break TONIGHT, six
days after the last entry on the Changelog? Did it take that
long for the version released on the 16th to actually "hit the
streets"? Or do changes in "Current" not get noted on the API
changelog? Or what?

Robert.
