Is there a formula or method to calculate the distance east to west
and north to south of the map bounds at a given point?

For instance:

On a map 700px by 450px at zoom level 12..

If I calculate the distance from the left to right of the map bounds
at the equator I get 17.17908159177108 Kilometers.

If I move 42.5 degrees north I get a distance of 12.665761807596796
kilometers from left to right.
