ahhh. excellent. thanks, Rossko. I took out those square brackets
because they seemed to be breaking the map, but now I see they were
kind of useful.

the polygons look nothing like they did when they were unencoded,
though (or how they looked on the preview map for the encoder
utility).

I did a search for single backslashes and couldn't find any, but do I
have to convert every instance of a backslash to two (making \\ into \\
\\ for example)?
