Bear in mind this is an address geocoder.  It is built to find postal
addresses, not more general locations like 'city' or 'country'.  It
usually does give some results, but you should not rely on them too
much.  As already said, the format of results may vary around the
world.

Yes.  As already said, test to see if some results element is present
before trying to use it.  If it is not present, you can't use it.
There isn't much we can do about that.

Google is not the only geocoder, other geocoders may work better in
some places, or they may be purposed for locating cities or mountains
rather than street addresses.  Geonames, for example.
