No, it's not complex, but some of us have a day job. Others are in a completely different timezone. The names you refer to are part of a layer which is not available to the API. It *may* be possible for those who can implement the Google Places API to get at them, but access to that API is still restricted, I believe. Some inactive/static names do appear on the API tiles, but they may not be the same as those appearing in Google Maps.
