Yep.  Now maybe it is clear as to why me looking at generic "sidebar"
examples or doing a general search on sidebars in this group/listserv
doesn't nearly give me the information I need to solve the
problem(s).  I know it can be done, a la:
http://google-maps-utility-library-v3.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/markerclusterer/examples/speed_test_example.html
What I haven't been smart enough to figure out is how to do it.  But
yes, as you can quickly see once you dive into that bit of code/
javascript, it's a pretty fragile "ecosystem" going on with lots of
potential opportunities to have a big, white, shiny paperweight (like
I have at: http://springfieldmn.ning.com/page/nonworking-markerclusterer).
