Do you get an error, G_HYBRID_TYPE is not defined? That hasn't been
available for a *very* long time.

I think I would suggest, at this stage of the Maps API, starting with
Version 3. At least your examples are more likely not to be out of
date. You will still need to make sure that you specify your icons
correctly on your website though.
