Unfortunately the example doesn't work as it ignores the zoom level. It also uses non-standard names for the methods, but that is easy to fix. In fact, now that I look at the definition of the MapCanvasProjection object, it is missing a method to get/set the current zoom level. I'm getting a good understanding of why this is a labs project!
