I just finished an iPhone webapp (described at http://www.chirpid.com/home)
that uses Google maps. I came from a Windows programming environment,
and so had to learn the Mac programming environment from scratch. My
final tool choices are:
JQuery (http://jqfundamentals.com/book/book.html),
HTML5 (http://www.html5rocks.com/),
JetBrains WebStorm (http://www.jetbrains.com/webstorm/).
