I've had people as far as 300 miles from me check it out with the same
results.

I'm going to see what I can do with Fusion Tables for the nearby
trails (the bulk of the KMZ contents and size) and load the markers
and main trail with geoxml3.

I'll also generate a big static KMZ file for a region and see how it
works.
